About us
Mission Indonesia is part of the Frontier Missions work of YWAM (Youth With A Mission / Jeugd met een Opdracht) in Indonesia and represents this work in the Netherlands. We are a team that grew out of YWAM Heidebeek in Heerde. Since 2013 we have been living and working in Indonesia.
To know God and to make Him known is our motto. Our desire is to be disciples of Jesus: to love God and to follow Him in what He asks of us. This moves us to love others and to make the gospel known among the unreached peoples of Indonesia.
Within our network, 6 teams are working in Indonesia, in different locations and on different islands. Almost all of them are made up of Indonesian missionaries. Some teams and field workers are just starting out, while others are already seeing much fruit.
What is Frontier Missions?
Frontier Missions means that we focus on unreached people groups and start Disciple Making Movements (DMM) among them.
An unreached people group has no indigenous Christian community with enough members and resources to reach its own people group with the gospel without outside help. People in an unreached people group have usually never heard the gospel presented in a way they can understand.
Indonesia has 235 unreached people groups, together more than 169 million people. We work among predominantly Muslim, Hindu and animist people groups.
Disciple Making Movement
A Disciple Making Movement (DMM) means that disciples of Jesus meet in small groups, also called house churches. These disciples in turn make new disciples and start new groups.
Every week they meet to read the Bible together and, with the help of a few simple questions, discover who God is and what He asks of us. God speaks to them through His Word and Spirit. He gives them the strength to spread the blessings of His kingdom within their families, among their neighbours and in their society.
Key features are a simple structure, adaptation to the existing culture, and obedience to Jesus. These make rapid spread and multiplication possible.
Mission
Following Jesus, we boldly bring the gospel of the kingdom of God to the unreached people groups of Indonesia and make disciples who make disciples, a Disciple Making Movement (DMM).
Vision
Every person in Indonesia knows a disciple of Jesus and, through him or her, has the opportunity to get to know Jesus, the gospel of the kingdom of God, and to become His disciple.
Values
Youth With A Mission is a volunteer movement, called to live in dependence on God for our financial provision. For individuals, every YWAM team and every YWAM community, this provision comes mainly through God's people. Just as God is generous towards us, we also want to be generous and give ourselves, our time and our talents to God, without expecting a reward or payment in return.
